ski trip fun : playing in the snow

We saw a lot of snow from the car window on the way in to Winter Park, so the kids woke up the next morning itching to get out and play. I proposed that we wait to go out until after I get a shower but, well, they were just too excited to wait. I couldn't resist their sweet little faces, so we went out right after breakfast. Me in pajamas (with boots and a camera), the kids fully geared up to play.

They loved it immediately, of course. We were out for well over an hour as we waited for our dear friends Jonathan and Kristin to arrive with their sweet kids.

The very next day and scattered throughout the rest of the trip there was much sledding. Hayes was torn as to whether he liked skiing better or sledding. In the end skiing won out because of the lift. He loved the lift. But sledding was a very close second. He would have walked up that hill and slid down all day long if we let him. Or at least until his little legs would go no more.

We also got to do a tiny bit of snowmobiling while we were there courtesy of some of my parents friends. It was a short run around the block, but still very fun. Hayes and Addie loved it. We must have driven them around 15 times each. And the kids all had lots of snow fun while the adults rode. I think it was Kristin who loved it the most. You should have seen the grin on her face as she took off. She was needing a release of energy. It was a rough trip for them with many doctor's visits and ultimately their baby ending up on oxygen. She is doing much better now, but the altitude was not great for her little lungs.
