Saying good-bye to Granddad

Well, we were all set to leave for Alaska on Sunday morning, but instead we got a call from Robert's uncle that his granddad had passed away. It was not at all unexpected, but it is never easy to say goodbye to someone you love. Granddad (Charles Richardson) was 82 years old. He was a seriously colorful person, he always cracked me up. He and Granny live on Uncle Jim's farm outside of Rockdale, TX. Granddad was a navy man, a veteran of WWII. He was a skilled woodcarver and was always good for a conversation. He could talk with the best of them! His body has been in pretty poor shape ever since he broke his back about 5 years ago, but man was his spirit strong! He sure could give the 'what for' when he didn't agree with what someone said. :)

The funeral was on Tuesday in Gainsville, TX. We will truly miss Granddad. He was a very sweet man. I know the next few months will be especially hard for Granny, so we are keeping her in our prayers.

I am so glad that Adeline got to meet her great-granddad. Here's a picture from the first time she met him. She was only 2 weeks old.
