a trip to see my-maw

We spent the weekend up in north Texas visiting Robert's mom.  We stayed out at her river house, which is way out in the country and right on the Red River.  It is beautiful and it always reminds me of Robert's dad.  He loved it out there.

We had a great time spending time with Linda and then we went to the Dallas Zoo on the way home on Sunday.  Addie rode a horse and petted a rabbit at the kids zoo, which totally surprised me.  She has a strange, intermittent fear of animals and apparently Sunday was an off day for being scared.  Today she cried and wanted to go home when our neighbor's cat got too close.  Huh?

Anywho... the weekend was great.  The kids got some good grandma time in and then they slept the entire way home.  An unexpected, but very welcome bonus.  Especially since sleep has been severely lacking in the Shelton household for the past few weeks.

Hayes was practicing his pointing all day.  (Yeah, aren't those bushes beautifully focused?)

What a beautiful family! Ruby was more scared of all the animal statues at the Dallas zoo than the actual animals! It's so funny to see their reactions to the world these days.
