A few things about Hayes at four months...
- He is 27 inches long (>95th percentile)
- He is 16 lbs 10 oz (85th percentile)
- His head circumference is 44 cm (85th percentile)
- He is a human corkscrew. His arch and twist maneuver makes holding him a challenge and diaper changes all but impossible.
- He is one of the smiliest babies you will meet. His smile lights up his whole body.
- He has started to be a little more demanding. Don't get me wrong, he's still a super easy baby, but now he is starting to form stronger opinions about how he wants his world to run. It's a good thing, I suppose.
- His nighttime sleep is completely unpredictable. One night he will wake up 3 times, the next night only once. Sometimes he sleeps until 8:00 in the morning, other days he's up for good at 6:00.
- He naps really well. He usually sleeps for 1.5 hours in the morning, then 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon with a possible 30 min - 1 hour nap in the evening.
- When he's sleepy, lays his head down on my shoulder, sucks his right thumb, and wraps his left arm around my neck. It is nearly impossible to put him down because it feels soooo good!
- He is really, really close to sitting up on his own. He can do it, but if he gets really excited he arches his back, catapulting himself backward onto his head. I think he needs a little more practice to realize that's not a good idea.
- He definitely prefers to be on his stomach rather than his back. If you lay him on his back, he immediately rolls over onto his stomach.
- His reflux is still around. I'm hoping it will start to subside since typically babies peak at 4 months and it generally goes away by 6 months.
- He still just has 2 teeth, but he is gnawing on everything like crazy, so I'm sure more teeth will be popping up soon.
- His eyes are mostly still blue, but his right eye is 1/3 brown. It's hard to capture in a picture, but I think you can see it pretty well here...
