real (big) rocks

How cool is Robert's boss that he took the whole office (and their families) out rock climbing on Good Friday. Yes, rock climbing. On real rocks. Big ones.

One of the guys that Robert works with is an avid rock climber and general outdoor sports extraordinaire. He got equipment for everyone and lead us out to Reimers Ranch Park, then set everything up and gave lessons.

The girls were excited.

Um, what fake smiles? I don't know what you're talking about. Anyways...

Robert was excited too.

No really, he was. That's genuine glee on his face.

Drew was an awesome guide. Here he is getting things set up.

And the rest of the office watching. Yes, it's a small (very small) office.

Since Claire took a class at the Austin Rock Gym back in February, she was ready to go! It was her first time on real rocks, but she did great! I love how her expression changes in these pictures. All smiles at the beginning, then she starts to get serious, then there is just a hint of anxiousness as she looks up right before she starts climbing.

Adeline was a complete newbie to the sport, but she was pretty darn good for a three year old. She went almost to the top, which was about 30 feet up. Luckily she is pretty light and Drew is pretty strong. I think he gave both the girls a good bit of help from the bottom.

Hayes did all his climbing on the ground.
